Jesus ~ Faithful Teacher

60

This stunning altarpiece depicts Jesus, holy and benevolent. This representation of Jesus Christ has its roots in the painting “Christ And The Rich Young Ruler” by Hoffmann (Matthew 19:16–26; Mark 10:17–27; Luke 18:18–27). This piece was created using the image transfer technique on fine wood, enhanced with touches of acrylic and watercolour paint.

“And Jesus looking upon them saith, ‘With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.’” — Mark 10:27

Icons of this style date back to the Byzantine Empire (330 to 1453 AD) and early Renaissance era. These have been a central feature of Eastern Orthodox, Greek, and Slavic Christianity. The art of ‘writing an icon’ is considered a spiritual discipline. The term ‘write’ is used because they are meant to be Scripture in visual form. To this day, icons are revered not merely as paintings but as windows to the Divine and channels for Grace.

Description

The Catalonia Mooji Sangha, based in Spain, has been gathering regularly since 2016.
A few years ago, they were inspired to meet in the wood workshop of one of their members, Casper, where they began carving wooden crosses to offer to others.
The joy of creating together led them to continue meeting at the workshop, where they now craft shrine ornaments, pendants, and more. Each piece unfolds slowly, often over several weeks, with many hands contributing to its creation. Rooted in selfless service and guided by a natural flow of spirit, these works are offered from the heart.
