Description
The Ribhu Gita is part of Shivarahasya Purana. It recounts the dialogue between sage Ribhu and his disciple, sage Nidagha, on the slopes of Mount Kedara in the Himalayas. It affirms time and time again that Brahman alone is the sole reality. This version of the text is an abridged translation made available by Sri Ramanasramam. Sri Ramana Maharshi encouraged the translator, N. R. Krishnamoorthi Aiyer, to study the text as his sadhana. In the 1920s and 30s there were regular group readings of the Tamil text at Ramanasramam. Devotees would sit in a circle and take it in turns to read out verses from the book. The Maharshi would join in these group readings and he said that reading the book was akin to being in samadhi.
